Casa Corcovado - Palmar Sur
Tucked away in the trees and cooled by the Pacific Ocean, Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge is a 170-acre private reserve bordering Corcovado National Park. Carefully designed and built by an American naturalist with over 25 years of local experience, this unique lodge offers accommodations constructed of native materials with the highest concern for harmony with the landscape and the environment, while maintaining a high level of comfort for the guests. The lodge is supplied with mountain spring water, and is surrounded by virgin rainforest and fruit trees, which draws birds, monkeys, and other animals. Electricity is provided 24 hours a day by hydro and solar systems, which are non-polluting and non-intrusive to the natural area.
Itinerary
Day 1: Fly south from either San Jose or Quepos (Manuel Antonio) to Palmar Sur on the Pacific Coast of the Osa Peninsula. Meeting service upon arrival by a representative of Casa Corcovado Lodge for a two-hour boat transfer to the lodge. The adventure begins as the launch leaves the Sierpe River and follows the Pacific Coast. You will have an orientation of the local flora and fauna of your pristine rainforest location that surrounds the lodge. (L, D)
Days 2 & 3: Guests at Casa Corcovado can enjoy beachcombing, or a hike to a refreshing waterfall, or a swim in a shaded pool. Those booking the three-day package also have a choice of one of the following tours, while those booking the four-day package have both of the following tours included in their program. Full Day Corcovado Reserve Tour:
A 25-minute boat trip takes you to San Pedrillo Station in Corcovado National Park. After disembarking, your naturalist guide will lead you along the beach to a forest trail up the Rio Pargo. Enjoy the vast variety of flora and fauna. Return to the beach for lunch, and in the afternoon take a short walk along the Rio Pedrillo to a pristine waterfall.
Full Day Cano Island Snorkeling Trip:
This is a day to remember your beach towel and snorkeling gear (available for rent). In the early morning you will have time to swim and enjoy the brightly-colored fish at Cano Island. After lunch the guide leads a hike up to the site of the Indian graves where archaeologists unearthed mysterious stone spheres and finely-worked artifacts, testimonies from a vanished culture. Late afternoon return to the lodge with the remainder of the evening at leisure.
Day 4: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Return via river to Sierpe and transfer to the landing strip at Palmar Sur for your flight to San Jose or Quepos. (B)
